" :David: Cooke. "

The :Nyan-ko-pong: Sovereign Maroon Global Tribal Nations & Territories, The Emperor Horus L.A. Lewis El Bey Chief High Priest, has appointed :David: Cooke. as the Chief High Chief effective January 2025..

David Cooke was reincarnated, February 23, 1966, in Kingston, Xaymaca (Jamaica), the third of four children through their mother. He was the only male child and grew up in Kingston 11, Waterhouse, where he attended Balmagie Primary School. He developed a passion for fixing things early on, becoming a mechanic’s helper at just ten years old, which shaped his future.

A few years later after they had relocated to the Olympic Garden community, he attended Pennwood Secondary School where he learned the fundamental concepts of constructing a building or a house. Whenever he skipped (skulled) school, you could find him on construction sites in different areas around Kingston, where the love and passion for working with his hands blossomed.

In the late 80’s, young Mr. Cooke migrated to the USA, where he attended the National Business School for Automotive Mechanics. Here the knowledge that he acquired while a child, afforded him the opportunity to be at the top of his class and upon leaving landed him a job with Sears and Roebuck in Arlington, Virginia. After a year and a half with the company, they transferred him to their Atlanta, Georgia location where he continued honing his skills for the next four and a half years.

Mr. Cooke however had one goal and that was to gather as much knowledge and resources as possible to one day return home to Jamaica. To facilitate that vision, he relocated to Florida where he would be closer to the island. There he had a friend that invested in homes, remodeled them and then would resell or rent them. Once again, his knowledge, experience and skills from days past, became invaluable and he teamed up with him to assist him with the remodeling and sales of homes throughout the South Florida area. In the fall of 1996, his partner who had a penchant for restaurants, invested in a derelict restaurant which they renovated and opened that year. It was named Coconutz Fusion Cafe, which his partner decided to keep and run it is still open and doing well to this day!

Mr. Cooke worked with the restaurant for the next year and accumulated a valuable small fortune of tools for the trade which afforded him the opportunity to branch out on his own. It was at this point that tragedy struck. While working on a project in Miami Gardens, Florida, thieves broke into the building he was working on and stole all the building materials and all of his tools which were left in the building overnight.

Fortunately for Mr. Cooke, success sometimes comes through setbacks, for it was at this lowest point in his life and career that he was hired by Florida Sol Cable Company as a cable installer. Once again, his deftness with his hands and mental acuity did not go unnoticed and he was drafted to become a cable lineman with Cable Construction who was a subcontractor to companies such as, Crown Fiber Corporation, Inc., and Underground Specialist Inc. His task, assist in the building and rebuilding of cable systems across the United States primarily in the eastern section of the country for companies like Media One, Verizon, Cox Communication and AT&T.

As the cable construction industry leveled off and declined in momentum, while still working as a cable lineman, he attended Key Power Technical Institute for Commercial Drivers. After graduating top of his class, he went on to operate tractor trailers for Earl Henderson Trucking as an Over the Road Team Operator. After purchasing his own tractor trailer, he branched out on his own as an independent operator for several years, but during the fuel crisis and the skyrocketing prices of fuel, he liquidated his assets, got new tools and ventured back into the construction business.

In the fall of 2017 one of his family members was in the process of opening an ice cream store in Jamaica and needed someone with the knowledge and skill to head the construction part of the project. It has been a phenomenal journey so far, his family now owns the iconic – Vineyard Town’s Premium Blend nondairy ice cream brand, BabyLove’s Twist stores and BabyLove’s C-G Foods which has become one of the leading nondairy ice cream manufacturers on the island, and Mr. Cooke helped with the design and headed the construction of all their locations, including the remodeling of their new factory location – a derelict building owned by the music mogul and icon Chris Blackwell.
It was this journey back into construction that allowed him to fulfill his desire to return to the land that he loves, head up the construction and afforded him the opportunity to be back home where he could also help find ways to make positive changes in the land of his reincarnation – Xaymaca – Jamaica, guided by these words

“Throughout history it has been the inaction of those who could have acted the indifference of those who should have known better the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered most that has made it possible for evil to triumph.” Haile Selassie
