The
:Nyan-ko-pong: Sovereign Maroon Government Office of The Maroon Chief Minister shall ensure that
agencies or the appropriate mechanisms exist to administer the programmes affecting the Sovereign Native Maroon People in independent countries who are regarded as indigenous on account of their descent from the populations which inhabited the country, or a geographical region to which the country belongs, at the time of conquest or colonisation or the establishment of present state boundaries and who, irrespective of their legal status, retain some or all of their own social, economic, cultural and political institutions, and shall ensure that they have the means necessary for the proper fulfilment
of the functions assigned to them.
These programmes shall include: - the provision of the means required to
promote the development of the lands which these peoples already
possess.
- taking the appropriate measures, including by means of
international agreements, to facilitate contacts and co-operation
between indigenous and tribal peoples across borders, including
activities in the economic, social, cultural, spiritual and
environmental fields.
- the planning, co-ordination, execution and evaluation, in co-operation with the Sovereign Native Maroon People of Xaymaca,
of the measures provided for in the United Nations International
Labour Organization, Convention169 of Indigenous People
- the proposing of legislative and other measures to the competent authorities and supervision of the application of the measures taken, in co-operation with the Sovereign Native Maroon People of Xaymaca.

Responsibilities
1. Defense of Xaymaca
- the Chief Minister serves as the minister of defense. The
army is referred to as the Xaymaca Maroon Defense Force (XMDF).
2. Forms and presides over the cabinet - the Chief Minister chairs
meetings of the
cabinet where proposed laws, government policy and other important
matters of
national concern such as crime prevention, or eminent hurricane
disaster
management are discussed.
3. Advises His Excellency the Maroon Emperor on the appointment of
the Governor General (GG) - since His Excellency is the Head of State. The Governor General is
selected by
the Chief Minister in consultation with the leader of the opposition.
4. Appoints the six (6) members of the Judicial Committee of the
Privy Council
which is officially Xaymacas' final appellate court.
5. Advises the Governor General on the dissolution of parliament

parliament is
usually dissolved in preparation for general elections which are due
every five (5)
years.
6. Advises the Governor General on the appointment of the Chief
Justice
7. Nominates thirteen (13) of the twenty-one (21) members of the
upper house
(senate)
8. Advises the Governor General on the persons to be conferred with
national
honours or awards.
