":Sterrette: Dobson"

I arose into the loving arms of Marion Thomas and Renford Dobson in 1960 in the parish of St Catherine from the district of Ewarton. I am blessed to have been nurtured and travelled through life a part of a large and extended family network. Being one of ten brothers and six sisters, much of my childhood is filled with many fond memories of good times.

At the early age of four years we moved to Maxwell Avenue in Kingston for a short period and this is where my educational journey began, where I attended the St Peter Claver Primary School on Waltham Park Rd, which, over fifty years later is still educating children to achieve their potential.

During 1969 going back to my birth town I attended the Ewarton Primary School, then I later returned to Kingston in 1975 to complete my school education at the Halie Selassie High School on Payne Avenue.

Having a passion for the well-being of others, I honed my people skills through my involvement with the Red Cross from as early as 2003, where I became one of the lead management person of a team of Maroon Natives that worked together to explore and created a disaster pron tropical storm and hurricane research report involving six different communities. Within this Logistics and first aid training was provided which was most beneficial as hurricane Ivan hit the island just a year later in 2004, giving rise to utilizing this training to prioritize the level of native injuries from minor to severe to ensure that the most urgent medical case was dealt with in the correct order.

Continued campaigns for those in need gave further assistance to local community members who benefitted from the building of 4 homes, major support to repair house roof tops, significant donations of zinc for families to rebuild and additional support for local schools and some school lunch programmes through free meals for a year.

A major achievement from my involvement in the Red Cross programme resulted in great praise and recognition on the content and presentation of the Disaster-Prone research document we produced, this lead to our document being used as a master template for an emergency damage assessment plan for all age groups and categories which was rolled out internationally across the globe for others to use.

Through the tribulations of lifes' ups' and down in the later part of the 1970 s' I retreated into the hills to be at one with myself and my spiritual healing. During this period of my life; much of my time was spent studying, interpreting many a vision & mediating on the knowledge and Insight I was inner standing about my ancestral roots, my maroon heritage along with my continued energy connections with Rastafari.

Later in life when I resurfaced into the wider world, I again was drawn to the spirit of supporting the needs of everyday community members. As a farmer myself, a group of us established a farmers' co- operative and developed number of community initiatives involving replanting of trees as part of a deforestation programme in the community of Ewarton, European and local funding programmes helped us to support a range of climate change activities and allowed me to successfully lobby and project manage the refurbishment of a local market place, with the support and working alongside the USA Peace Corps.

At the prime of my life 2016 allowed me to run for the Parish Council as a nominated member of the Marcus Garvey Peoples' Political Party in the Ewarton Division. This gave me a great insight into the political arena, leading me to further expand my involvement in community development organisations. I have organised a number of fund raising activities under the Ours United Resource Service (OURS) Society with part proceeds going to the Beecher Town primary school. Having Broad community links a friend introduced me to the :Nyan-ko-pong: Sovereign Maroon Government, and accepted the position of Chief of Economics & Job creation, so here I am standing Proud.....
